El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en examinar el papel que puede jugar la fiscalidad en la consecución de un turismo que se pueda calificar como sostenible. Para ello comenzaremos caracterizando qué es el turismo sostenible. Seguidamente presentaremos los diferentes tipos de instrumentos públicos encaminados a la consecución del desarrollo sostenible desde la perspectiva turística, centrándonos en el papel de los impuestos. This paper analyses how environmental issues have affected and are continuing to affect the evolution of European manufacturing industries based on the example of the Spanish Ceramic Tile Industry (SCTI).1 The Ceramic Tile Industry (CTI)2 in Europe became very competitive and innovative in the early 1990s, with the Italian and the Spanish sectors, which are cluster-based, becoming world leaders. Las ciudades inteligentes disponen de entornos urbanos que tratan de utilizar las modernas TIC (tecnologías de la información y la comunicación). El objeto de este artículo es valorar cómo se desarrolla la sostenibilidad en ciudades inteligentes y áreas despobladas de Europa. Concluimos que la transformación a ciudad inteligente sostenible requiere de la elaboración de un plan de ciudad consensuado con las distintas formaciones políticas y los grupos de interés.

Biotrickling filter modeling for styrene abatement. Part 2: Simulating a two-phase partitioning bioreactor.

Abstract A dynamic model describing styrene abatement was developed for a two-phase partitioning bioreactor operated as a biotrickling filter (TPPB-BTF). The model was built as a coupled set of two different systems of partial differential equations depending on whether an irrigation or a non-irrigation period was simulated. The maximum growth rate was previously calibrated from a conventional BTF treating styrene (Part 1). The model was extended to simulate the TPPB-BTF based on the hypothesis that the main change associated with the non-aqueous phase is the modification of the pollutant properties in the liquid phase. Abstract A three-phase dynamic mathematical model based on mass balances describing the main processes in biotrickling filtration: convection, mass transfer, diffusion, and biodegradation was calibrated and validated for the simulation of an industrial styrene-degrading biotrickling filter. The model considered the key features of the industrial operation of biotrickling filters: variable conditions of loading and intermittent irrigation.
